Laney Benton
d.o.b.: 1849     died:  still going strong
Howdy, all.  My name's Laney Benton, and I come from the high up hills of Kentucky.  I got me an older sister and three younger brothers, though I've only seen one of'em for a spell.  Ma, she still lives back to home, and it's been a while since I've had the chance to sit of an evenin' on the front porch with her, passin' the time away in those rockin' chairs.
She probably misses, pa.  He took off for the western lands afore I was old enough to be on my own, and the neither of us know where he is.  If he could of come home, he would have by now, so I don't reckon there's much hope.
But I'm out exploring those western lands on my own, and if I stumble acrost what happened to him I'll surely let ma know.
I stand several inches over six feet, and I've put on a few pounds since I left home to fight for the Union.  We won that shindig, but afterwards I took off on my own, to see the far horizons of Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, and so many other places I kin barely remember them all.
I first appeared in "Dangerous Debt", but hear tell that book ain't out in circulation yet.  Not that that bothers me too much...that was something I'd just as rather forget.  I later appeared in
Not What It Seems, That Kind of Man, and A Moment's Hesitation.
Hope I get to share my tales with you!
